OU softball: Sydney Romero among 3 finalists for Collegiate Player of the Year

Oklahoma third baseman Sydney Romero was named among three finalists for the 2019 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, USA Softball announced Thursday.

The 2019 Big 12 Player of the Year is on the national leaderboards in numerous statistics. Romero ranks fourth in the nation in total bases (154) and sacrifice flies (six), while while being 11th in hits with 79. Romero currently has a batting average .429 and has racked up 18 home runs on the season. 

The award will be announced May 28.

The Sooners host Northwestern in the NCAA Norman Super Regional at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 24, and Saturday with possibility of having a game three on Sunday. All games will be played at Marita Hynes Field.
