This Sunday the No. 1 Sooners will compete against No. 4 UCLA in Los Angeles.

Oklahoma is coming off a tough road loss to Florida last Sunday. The Sooners fell  198.125-198.150 in that meet.

Since the loss, coach K.J. Kindler has had the team back in the gym working hard to make sure next week provides a different outcome.

"A close loss like that has given us a fiery motivation to strive for perfection," sophomore Maggie Nichols said.

Nichols, a crucial leader for the team, both in scoring and role as an all-around competitor, has scored a perfect 10 in all four events during her career at Oklahoma. She and the rest of the team are preparing for a tough UCLA team this Sunday.

"If it says anything, I think that they're even better than what they're ranked," Kindler said of the Bruins.

UCLA is coming off a big win at the Metroplex Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, over No. 2 LSU, No. 14 Washington and No. 28 North Carolina State. UCLA will prove to be a challenge for the Sooners. Gymnasts like senior Christine Peng-Peng Lee and sophomore Kyla Ross — who was the Pac-12 player of the week this week — will lead the charge for the Bruins.

The Sooners are looking to get back on track this weekend in Los Angeles after last week's loss. Despite the loss, though, Oklahoma retained its No. 1 national rank.

The stage is set for a meet of some of the best gymnasts in the nation. The Sooners and the Bruins will face off at 3 p.m. Sunday, and the meet will be broadcast on ESPN.
