The No. 1 Sooners pulled out another win this season against the Iowa State Cyclones 197.425-195.275 for their second away meet Jan. 27, according to SoonerSports.
Freshman Maggie Nichols lead in every event with 9.95 on vault and bars, 9.9 on beam, 9.925 on floor and 39.725 in the all-around.
The team opened on bars with 49.450, leading the Cyclones who scored 48.800 on vault after the first rotation. Nichols anchored OU followed by seniors Chayse Capps and McKenzie Wofford with 9.9s. Junior Stefani Catour posted a low of 9.65 for the Sooners and took the last spot in individual results.
On vault, Nichols stuck her landing and collected 9.95 for the team, followed by junior AJ Jackson with a 9.9. Freshman Jade Degouveia made her second appearance for the team after facing illness at the beginning of the season posting a 9.825, just ahead of senior Charity Jones who opened the event with a 9.8. This is a .025 improvement from Degouveia’s 9.8 debut against West Virginia. The Cyclones posted a high of 9.8 with sophomore Meaghan Sievers and junior Haylee Young.
The Sooners moved to the floor continuing their lead 148.225-145.975 scoring a 49.400 after the third rotation. Nichols closed, but was lead by Jackson and junior Natalie Brown with 9.9 and 9.875 respectively. Sievers lead the Cyclones with a 9.825.
To end the meet, the team added 49.200 from beam. Brown and Catour both contributed 9.85s behind Nichols’s 9.9 with sophomore Nicole Lehrmann following with a 9.825. Lehrmann tied with Sievers from the Cyclones.
The Sooners will take on No. 7 Denver, No. 12 Nebraska and TWU 6:45 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Lloyd Noble Center.
