The Huskies got out to an early lead with their lone run in the second inning from Taylor Van Zee. OU tried to come back multiple times, but were unable to get the rally they were looking for.
Junior Paige Parker started in the circle for Oklahoma before Paige Lowary replaced her three and a third innings in. The pitching staff only managed one strike out.
The Oklahoma defense was effective against the Huskies' offense, holding them to the single run, despite strong opportunities for Washington to extend its lead in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Nicole Pendley was the Sooners’ lead-off hitter for the first time this season, but couldn’t manage a hit.
Washington had six hits compared to the Sooners’ five. Oklahoma also committed one error and left six on base.
OU returns to action against Incarnate Word in Houston on Friday, Feb. 17. First pitch is scheduled for 9 a.m.
