Tulsa Police Department releases graphic video of Terence Crutcher shooting

Police work the scene of a shooting late Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 in Tulsa, Okla. A Tulsa police officer shot and killed a black man who ignored repeated requests to put up his hands before reaching into an SUV that was stalled in the middle of a street, the police department said. Terence Crutcher, 40, died at the hospital where he was taken after he was shot by the officer at around 8 p.m. Friday, police said in a news release.

The Tulsa Police Department has released video footage of the fatal Sept. 16 shooting of Terence Crutcher, Tulsa World reports. 

A spokeswoman for the police department said Crutcher refused to follow the on-scene officers' commands in the moments before the shot was fired, Tulsa World also reports. Crutcher also did not have a weapon on him or in his vehicle. 

The World also reports Tulsa PD officer Betty Shelby discharged her weapon at Crutcher, who was pronounced dead at the hospital.
