Ten contenders will share about the cultures of their home countries at the annual Mr. and Ms. International OU pageant, hosted by the International Advisory Committee.

The Mr. and Ms. International OU pageant 2018 will take place from 7–10 p.m. on Feb. 15 in Meacham Auditorium.

Robert Okello, president of the International Advisory Committee, said contestants will participate in four different activities during the event.

The activities will include a fashion show showcasing clothing from the different countries, as well as two group activities that require the contestants to work as a team.

The event will also include a trivia competition and will give contestants the opportunity to share why they think they should be the next Mr. or Ms. International OU.

“The Mr. and Ms. International OU pageant is a platform for the contestants to share about their country and to share that with the OU community,” Okello said. “Students should really come out, it’s a great opportunity to learn more about the diversity at OU.”

According to the event's Facebook page, the contestants in this year's pageant are:

  • Ali Al Khayer from Syria

  • Ali Shahbazi Mastan Abad from Iran

  • Amer Begovic from Bosnia and Herzegovina

  • Angela Francini from Italy

  • Anu Roy from India

  • Nishit Garg from India

  • Kexuan Wu from China

  • Nelson McEwen from Sierra Leone

  • Nicanor Wolieu from Ivory Coast

  • Zaharahaou Sylla from Ivory Coast
