OU President David Boren said in a statement today that he "emphatically" believes it is wrong to put blame on the victims of sexual assault or misconduct.

"It is a core value of all of the many programs on our campus put in place to combat sexual misconduct, to never put the blame on the victim," the statement continues.

The statement is in response to an Oct. 3 story by The Daily that details research done by OU counseling psychology professors Lisa Frey and Denise Beesley.

The research showed, among other findings, that 152 out of 823 students whom the professors surveyed said they had been sexually assaulted at OU. The research was delivered to Boren's office, Title IX and other administrative offices, but was only acknowledged by the Gender + Equality Center.

Boren said in the story that he never saw the report.
