OU's Board of Regents will meet Dec. 12 to discuss an increase in housing rates and suspending psychology clinic services, among other things.
The meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Bird Library on the Health Sciences Center Campus in Oklahoma City. OU students are also arranging a protest at the meeting to speak out against comments from Regent Kirk Humphreys, who called homosexuality "wrong" and compared it to pedophilia on a talk show segment Dec. 10.
Preview the meeting's agenda items below:
Suspending the Counseling Psychology Clinic program
The Regents will vote on whether to suspend the Counseling Psychology doctoral program from accepting new students for four to five years, according to the meeting agenda.
The Counseling Psychology Clinic is run by counseling psychology doctoral students and has been in limbo for several months after staffing issues earlier this year led to the program temporarily suspending acceptance of new students.
Increase in Housing Rates
OU President David Boren has recommended an increase in housing rates for the 2018-2019 academic year for a variety of housing options on campus.
Freshmen housing could see rate increases between 3 and 7 percent, while upperclassmen options could see increases between 3 and 12 percent, according to the agenda.
Department status for the African and African American Studies program
The Regents will discuss upgrading the African and African American Studies program to the Department of African and African American studies, according to the agenda.
This move is motivated by "the unit's long history, its continued growth, and its key contributions," according to the agenda.
Establishing data governance committees
The board will vote to establish data governance committees to "establish the accurate, secure, and effective use of institutional data," according to the agenda.
