Clay Bennett has resigned as chair of the OU Board of Regents, according to OU regent Leslie Rainbolt-Forbes.

Bennett, a businessman in Oklahoma and co-owner of the Oklahoma City Thunder, had served on the Board of Regents since first being appointed in by Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin in 2011.

Though very private about his health, it had been an open secret Bennett has been suffering from cancer for several years. Rainbolt-Forbes will take over as chair effective immediately.
