Economics junior Adran Gibbs won the Oct. 30-31 election for Student Government Association president.
Gibbs and his running mate Prince Ohene-Nyako are the unofficial winners of the election after securing 84.1 percent of the vote, or 1,761 votes, according to SGA Election Board Chair Brandon Swearengin.
Presuming the election is certified by SGA's superior court, Gibbs will replace current SGA President Yaseen Shurbaji, for whom he was chief-of staff. Ohene-Nyako, a health and exercise junior, will replace current SGA Vice President Hannah Hardin.
Gibbs defeated political science and economics sophomore Otto Wimer and his running mate, business junior Donald Duechting. Wimer recieved 15.9 percent of the vote, or 333 votes.
In total, 2,094 students voted in the election, Swearengin said. The election results will be unofficial until validated by SGA's superior court next week and once any campaign grievances are resolved.
