The School of Petroleum and Geological Engineering will be receiving a donation of $6 million. OU alumnus Curtis W. Mewbourne, president of Mewbourne Oil Company gave the donation. The school will be named the Mewbourne School of Petroleum and Geological Engineering in honor of the donor. This will be the first named school in the College of Engineering. The Mewbourne School is home to some of the top research facilities in the country. The $6 million donation will be matched with $2 million from the State Regents Endowment Program, which will result in a total of $8 million given to the school. Mewbourne has also developed the Mewbourne Leadership Scholars Program, which will allow students to participate in an internship between their freshman and sophomore years of college, said Lisa Schmidt, Coordinator for Student Relations of the Mewbourne School of Petroleum and Geological Engineering. The internship will give students an opportunity to receive personal attention from Mewbourne, Schmidt said. hello there & you too
