Ariana Grande released “Be Alright”, the second single off of her forthcoming album "Dangerous Woman." This song is much different from the debut single that shared it’s title with the album, much less sultry and more bouncy.
This song is still captivating, the intense bass on the hook contrasting with the almost childlike music behind the verses. Grande has had a huge push behind promoting this album, releasing an a cappella version of “Dangerous Woman” as well this week.
Grande seems to have finally made the transition to a more mature pop sound that showcases her voice. Her transition to a different side of pop marks her as different than some of the pop stars she has formerly been grouped with, and it’ll be interesting to see what else Grande has in store leading up to the release of her album.
Fifth Harmony's new song, "The Life," seems to be a perfect example of what happens when young artists attempt to sound mature while still appealing to their younger audiences.
The song is one that not a lot of girl groups would be confident putting out: one that highlights the excess after the struggle. Because the music industry puts such an emphasis on authenticity, the song seems especially fake. The group was formed on the X-Factor, and while there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s not really a struggle like is usually associated with songs like that.
Meghan Trainor’s second release from her upcoming album “Watch Me Do” solidifies the new angle that Trainor is taking on her music.
The song is terrible pseudo-rap with lyrics that are about what you’d expect from Trainor (the bridge is a new low: “I’m the shhhh, be quiet/ I been on a no-hater diet”). The song also brings back what was the worst part of Beyoncé’s “Drunk In Love”, which was Jay-Z dropping the word “breasteses” in his section, but Trainor seems to simply enjoy the weirdly pluralized words, dedicating an entire verse to the “-eses” rhyme.
Azaelia Banks re-made her Twitter account to announce that in response to leaks of her newest mixtape Slay-Z, it would be released on iTunes very soon. Slay-Z was then released on her account Thursday.

The album is a return to form for the rapper, whose career is as surrounded by scandal as it is by praise. The previously released song “The Big Big Beat” is included and is representative of the mixtape’s sound. You can download Banks' album here.
