The SEC unveiled its entire football schedule for the 2024 season on Wednesday, which includes new members Oklahoma and Texas in the expanded 16-team league.

The Sooners will make their SEC debut against Tennessee on Sept. 21 in Norman, which marks the first time Volunteers coach Josh Heupel will return to his alma mater since being fired as its offensive coordinator in 2015.

The former OU quarterback finished as the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy in 2000 as he led Oklahoma to an undefeated season and a national championship. The Sooners' first road SEC game will be at Auburn on Sept. 28.

OU will take on Texas at the Cotton Bowl on Oct. 12. The back half of the schedule will seemingly be a challenge as Alabama travels to town on Nov. 23 and the Sooners travel to Baton Rouge to face LSU on Nov. 30.

Oklahoma’s other home game is versus South Carolina on Oct. 19 and its other road games are at Ole Miss on Oct. 26 and at Missouri on Nov. 9.

The Sooners do not play Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Texas A&M or Vanderbilt.

OU finished with a 10-2 record in 2023 under second-year head coach Brent Venables, a four-win improvement from last season's 6-7 disappointment. 

With Oklahoma and Texas joining the league, the SEC voted to stay at eight conference games without divisions for the 2024 season and the conference championship game will feature the top two teams in the standings at the end of the regular season.

Opponents were determined based on traditional opponents and a balanced strength of schedule based on winning percentage since 2012. All 14 existing SEC schools will play either the Sooners or Longhorns in 2024.

The SEC Championship Game will be played on Dec. 7, 2024, in Atlanta on ABC.
