No. 4 OU (32-2 6-0 SEC) swept Mississippi (20-14 0-9 SEC) in Oxford this weekend, in the midst of setting a Southeastern Conference home run record.

OU continues to rewrite the record books, shattering the SEC single-season home run record just 32 games into the season. With 122 home runs and counting, OU eclipsed the previous mark set by last year’s 2025 squad, further cementing its place as one of the most dominant offenses in college softball history.
The milestone comes as no surprise for a lineup that has consistently overwhelmed opposing pitching with power from top to bottom. From established contributors like junior outfielder Kasidi Pickering and junior utility player Ella Parker to emerging freshmen like catcher Kendall Wells, who leads the country in home runs, OU’s depth has fueled an offensive surge that shows no signs of slowing as conference play intensifies.
Wells is hitting .402 this season with a nation-leading 25 home runs while also pacing the team with 52 RBIs, cementing herself as one of the most dangerous hitters in the nation and a key force behind OU’s record-breaking power surge.
OU sweeps series victory
OU continued its dominant start to conference play, taking the weekend series over Mississippi behind explosive offense and consistent pitching in Oxford.
The Sooners opened the series with a commanding 10-0 run-rule victory, backed by a complete performance on both sides of the ball. OU tallied 10 runs on 12 hits while holding Mississippi to just three hits, as senior pitcher Audrey Lowry picked up the win in the circle.
OU followed with another emphatic performance in the series finale, defeating the Rebels 14-2 in five innings. The Sooners set the tone early with four runs in the first inning and never looked back.
Power once again defined OU’s offense. The Sooners launched five home runs in the win, including a two-home run day from freshman outfielder Kai Minor and a grand slam from senior outfielder Abby Dayton. Pickering also added a two-run shot as OU’s lineup overwhelmed Mississippi pitching from top to bottom.

Kai Minor continues to shine
Minor’s two-home run performance in the 14-2 win reflects her production throughout the season. As it stands, Minor currently sits at No. 9 nationally in batting average, hitting .512 through 33 games.

Her production, regardless of where head coach Patty Gasso places her in the lineup, has provided a consistent spark for OU, combining elite contact and speed with emerging power to keep pressure on opposing pitchers both at the plate and on the bases.
Minor’s ability to get on base at a high rate while also hitting for power adds another dimension to an already dangerous lineup. If she stays on pace with her current batting average, Minor will be the first Sooner to hit over .500 since former utility player Jocelyn Alo, who hit .515 in 2015.
Next, OU will take on Louisiana State starting 6 p.m Friday in a three-game series at Tiger Park on SECN+.
