The OU Board of Regents approved a new six-year contract for Oklahoma head football coach Brent Venables on Friday. The contract extension was first reported by ESPN.

Venables is entering his third season as head coach of OU football, and has gone 16-10 in the previous two seasons. After a 6-7 season in 2022, Venables and the Sooners rebounded and went 10-3 in 2023.

Venables will make $7.2 million in 2024, then will make $7.625 million in 2025, $7.725 million in 2026, will receive no raise in 2027, $7.825 million in 2028 and $7.925 million in 2029. Venables will also receive a $250,000 bonus for winning the conference championship game and a $1 million bonus for winning the national championship.
