No. 2 Oklahoma beat No. 3 Illinois 330.700-325.500 Saturday night in Norman.

The Sooners (4-1) took down the Fighting Illini (1-1) in a high-scoring match to extend their undefeated home record as senior Emre Dodanli led the way.

On vault, Dodanli paved the way for the Sooners, sticking and scoring a 14.350 and tying Illinois freshman Ian Sandoval for the individual highest scorer for the event. Redshirt freshman Arthur Ballon scored a 13.000 to help secure Oklahoma the win in the event with a score of 56.200-55.700.

Leading the Sooners on the rings, senior Matthew Burgoyne set a career-high 14.100. Burgoyne and freshman Francisco Velez Belendez tied for the individual highest scorers, earning a team score of 55.750-45.250.

“We do a lot of work every single day, and the competition is where we get to see it all pay off. It’s a really good feeling,” Burgoyne said.

On the bars, sophomore Colin Flores made his mark with a score of 13.650, surpassing his season-high 13.000 and earning him the individual highest scorer for the event. The Sooners went on to win in the closest event of the night, 52.900-52.200.

With the highest team score of the season, the Sooners maintained their undefeated record at home. Next, Oklahoma will face Ohio State at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2 at the Covelli Center in Columbus.
