* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Oklahoma softball: Melyssa Lombardi named NFCA Division I assistant coach of the year

Oklahoma associate head coach Melyssa Lombardi was named National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I assistant coach of the year Monday afternoon, according to a press release. 

Lombardi has been with the Sooners as the pitchers coach for 20 seasons, and the 2017 staff was one of the deepest in Oklahoma history. Three pitchers threw 100 or more innings and all five pitchers had a 2.08 ERA or lower. The staff average was 1.55 ERA, and it recorded 510 strikeouts, according to the release. 

Junior Paige Parker was the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and finished with the lowest ERA and strikeouts per inning in her career with 1.43 and 8.72 per 7 IP, respectively, according to the release. 

Junior Paige Lowary was named to the All-Big 12 First Team, was a large factor in the Sooners' 2017 National Championship run, and recorded 11 saves on the season. 

Freshman Mariah Lopez went 18-1 on the season with 109 strikeouts in 101 innings, the release said. 

Lombardi was also part of the NFCA Coaching Staff of the Year, and she recently received a raise at the September OU Board of Regents meeting.
