EVENING...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 109 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, northern, northwest,
southeast, southern, southwest, and western Oklahoma and northern
Texas.

* WHEN...From noon today to 8 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Oklahoma wide receiver Dede Westbrook was named a first-team All-American by USA Today for his 2016 season, and his quarterback made the second team. 

Westbrook has 74 receptions for 1465 yards and 16 receiving touchdowns this season and is considered the favorite for the Biletnikoff Award, honoring the nation's top receiver. Texas lineman Connor Williams and running back D'Onta Foreman were the only other Big 12 players to make the first team.

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, who threw for 3669 yards and 38 touchdowns this season, made the second team. Mayfield currently holds the highest single season passing efficiency rating in FBS history.

Two West Virginia players also made the second team, giving the Big 12 a total of six players honored.

Mayfield and Westbrook are both Heisman Trophy finalists. The winner of that award will be announced Saturday night.
