OU President Joseph Harroz Jr. presented a video during the class of 2029 kickoff announcing the Soval Series, a new program hosting three events on the South Oval, including a live concert from three-time Grammy nominated duo Dan + Shay.

The Beat Bevo Bash will begin at noon on Oct. 8 ahead of the Red River Rivalry game against the University of Texas with Bevo burgers, referencing the University of Texas’ mascot. The event will also offer free “Beat Texas” T-shirts and fairground activities.

OU will also host country pop duo Dan + Shay for Showtime on the Soval during Homecoming week at 7 p.m. on Oct. 23. Dan + Shay received three consecutive Grammy Awards for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their songs “Tequila,” “Speechless” and “10,000 Hours,” featuring Justin Bieber.

The annual holiday lights event, previously held at Burr Park, will now be held at 6 p.m. on Nov. 19 on the South Oval.

Harroz said the class of 2029 had a record-breaking 6,251 first-year students, marking the fifth-consecutive record-breaking class in university history.
