The OU Police Department is investigating a student death in the Norman campus' Walker Center, according to a statement from OU press secretary Matt Epting.

OU freshman Kyle Carey died Feb. 22. No details regarding his death or its cause are available at this time.

Epting released a statement from OU President David Boren regarding Carey's death.

"We are deeply saddened by Kyle’s tragic death," Boren said in the statement. "Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family and friends.”

Counselors have been made available to Carey's hall mates in Walker Center, friends and others close to him, Epting said.

Epting said OU has resources for members of the university community seeking help in crisis, including the University Counseling Center at Goddard Health Center, which offers counseling appointments for $10. There are also resources available throughout the Norman community.
