OU will observe Juneteenth National Independence Day as a federal holiday on Wednesday, giving holiday leave to eligible employees and canceling in-person and online instruction across all three campuses.
According to a university email, short-term summer camps will continue as scheduled and essential employees on all campuses who are required to work on the holiday will receive time to be taken on dates scheduled between the supervisor and the affected employee.
In 2021, the university added Juneteenth to its calendar of holidays and it will continue observing the holiday moving forward, according to the email.
OU Health Sciences offices will be closed on the holiday except where continuous work is needed to avoid conflicts with patient care and service-related operations. Retail pharmacies in Oklahoma City and Tulsa will be closed.
All OU Health Sciences clinics in Oklahoma City and Tulsa will be closed, according to the email. HSC program students in assigned rotations should also confirm attendance requirements through their preceptor or college student affairs office.
