On Wednesday, the city of Norman established a burn ban through March 3.

Under the ban:

• All fires, campfires, bonfires and burning of any kind of material is prohibited.

• Enforcement can be carried out by any law enforcement officer in the state, and violators could be subject to a fine or imprisonment.

• Outdoor cooking approved appliances may be used with caution.

Gov. Kevin Stitt declared a state of emergency Tuesday after multiple wildfires broke out across the state. Most fire evacuations are happening in Northwest Oklahoma, but Norman and Cleveland County officials are urging residents to be cautious under the ban.
