Oklahoma incoming freshman, Trae Young is among 28 individuals invited to attend the 2017 USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Cup Team training camp.

Young will compete to earn a spot on the twelve-man roster, which will participate in the 2017 FIBA U19 World Cup in Cairo, Egypt beginning July 1. The Norman native will enter the camp with prior experience on the USA Basketball Team. Just last year, Young and the United States brought home the gold at the 2016 FIBA Americas U18 Championship in Valdivia, Chile where he averaged 6.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in the five games.

He is the highest rated prospect to sign with the Sooners during Lon Kruger’s tenure—recording an average of 42.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game during his senior year. According to ESPN, Young is one of the top overall players in the 2017 class. Young earned awards such as Gatorade Player of the Year two straight years (2016-2017) and McDonald’s All-American award in 2017.

The camp will take place June 18th-25th at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO.
