Let's compare the BCS with affirmative action:

a team that is so rich, has a lots of tradition, but lost two games and didn't win anything at the of the season.

versus

a team that is so rural with a crazy blue turf, won ALL games and their conference, and everyone from humans to computers agrees it should be ranked higher than the aforementioned rich team.

Who gets in the big buck bowl game? After today, we will hear no cries except from the potato producing state.

another example is Tech vs. Texas for the remaining at-large BCS spot from the Big12. I guess head-to-head doesn't count and the BCS ranking should matter, right Mr. Mack Brown?

BCS underlying purpose is to maintain the status quo. Rich teams & conferences will remain rich. And with money, they can have better coaches, recruit better athletes, build better stadiums & training facilities, spend more on media relations, and most importantly, buy the "W" & make even more money with their non-conference schedules.

I really hope some people (like Obama) can say enough is enough and rip this system to shreds.

I think the Daily forgot what they wrote just last month: "Boren’s total compensation increased 33.6 percent between the 2006-07 and the 2007-08 fiscal years for $550,544 annually" (http://oudaily.com/news/2008/nov/18/u...)

& you can bet Stoops & Co. will get a hefty raise after this season. He'll be the highest paid coach again if OU wins it all.

& don't forget the accruing interest of the University debt (several hundred million dollars!) for various expansions, renovations and new buildings.

Let's all be aware that money is still being spent lavishly at the top, and students are the ones who receive Boren's sorry letters at the beginning of every semester.

I guess all three teams (TTU, UT, & OU) can claim they are Big 12 south champs. It just happened that due to Big 12 rules OU got the nod for the championship game. It comes with a high risk though: win & we will be in the National championship game, but lose we may end up at the Holiday bowl. Meanwhile UT is guaranteed a BCS bowl. But I guess that's why we are better than the 'Horns - we don't whine and we control our own destiny!

So that's why! I was wondering "where is our fullback Matt Clapp?" during the second half. OU didn't run the ball well at all in the shortgun except for the last TD.

I had the same injury on my right thumb a few years back. Couldn't write, couldn't hold anything for weeks. Need to admire the way Sam Bradford played last Saturday. Get well soon Sam! Hope you get the Heisman & the second Big 12 champs under your belt this weekend (Heupel, Hybl, White, Thompson each got only one - so that's something to shoot for).

Please please coach Stoops after this season, if Wilson (along with Venables) is gone, don't take Chuck Long back! The way he treated Paul Thompson in 2005 was just wrong. Let's Josh Heupel be the new offensive coordinator.

Other than that, thank you for the game. It was beyond my wildest dream.

waste of time and space. if you do some math you'll know that statistically the chance for OU to win the division is practically zero. Let's just hope OU win out, get an at-large bcs bid and win the January bowl game. that's all OU can control right now - themselves.

"However, many of the "less fortunate" have the exact same opportunities as the upper-middle class." (mcd1255)

you must be kidding!
More money means better health care and better education and better opportunities. You betcha!

And just a terrible article by Matt Felty, why did OUdaily hire this guy? How many misleading and nonsense arguments and accusations a staff writer can write?

"Obama, though, believes taxes should be levied to let the government level the playing field."

"Guys like Joe did not work hard to have the government tell them how much of the pie they can eat."

"Obama’s government would dictate to Americans how big they can dream. Or not dream at all."

"A real question from a real voter elicited the wrath of our country’s most dangerous orator."

etc.

And I would sincerely hope that Matt doesn't have to take student loan, doesn't have to work at Walmart or deliver pizzas after school hours, and doesn't have to go with OU lowly student health plan II, because if he did, and yet could write this article, I would have to give up my username to his professors.

Bob Stoops/Venables need to think about the long-term health of the their young athletes. Playing already injured Reynolds every down in the second quarter of TX game should be a lesson to remember. I'm glad he sidelined Johnson immediately in last game.

I agree with you on the main points. The campaigns and the media coverage are reaching irritating levels. And OK is so red and that means we are totally ignored & forgotten by both candidates. However, as one dear friend told me, we need to vote so that there will be a number after Nov 4, a number stating there is a blue component in this state and that it is actually growing.
