dio - although ad hominems can be fun, your criticism would be more meaningful if you demonstrate that
1) Meyer and Wells faltered on the biology questions
or
2) Meyer's combinatorics, which contained the force of his argument, were incorrect
or
3) Mathematics has little correspondence to reality
I agree that Clark suggests the events were more peaceful than they were, but I do think Meyer's and Westrop's lectures, the video, and the Q&A times were intellectually stimulating.

As a mathematics major, I just want to defend my field.
ID theorists use combinatorics to show that it is extremely improbable that amino acids randomly came together to form functional DNA.
Please respect this as evidence for their views.
A side note - I am curious if you have read Richard Dawkins's disparagement of punctuated equilibrium in The Blind Watchmaker.
I do not mean to insinuate that Dawkins is the source of authority on this subject.

I am surprised a "pro-life ambassador" would tell you this. Most are pretty conservative. While the PLAs may not have an official statement on a biological father's responsibility, I think most of this group would agree that men should love their children, meaning spending time with them, providing for them financially, etc. Whoever you spoke with was probably mis-representing the views of the PLA as a whole.
As far as scare tactics - the pictures are disgusting but they correspond to reality. The world is violent.
Nearly every member of the American society already believes that the taking of MOST innocent human life is murder. The PLA argues we should prosecute takers of ALL innocent human life. (Please note a distinction between sinful and guilty of a capital offense.) To cut to the chase, I don't think writing anti-abortion legislation respecting all human life equates to making a law respecting the establishment of the Christian or Muslim religion, as the First Amendment prohibits Congress from doing.

To clarify: Ayn Rand, the philosopher/author who basically invented Objectivism, wrote The Fountainhead. Her political philosophy closely resembled Libertarianism. She was pretty anti-Fascist. Harper's writings fall in line with her philosophy. Perhaps Harper's comments about the Women's Studies department should be read in light of the objectivist thought that Feminism often obscures objectivity.
