Braceyourself, Ms. Rucker is not telling anyone to avoid taking precautions-"Don't wear your seatbelt because people will drive drunk regardless." You're completely missing the point. Most people do take precautions to ensure their safety every day. But because they wore a short skirt, consumed alcohol, or went to the dorm room of a friend to study, they will be blamed for not doing enough to protect themselves. That's the problem that needs to be addressed.

Did this case happen in a dark alley, braceyourself? Nope, it happened in a dorm room. It also doesn't appear to have resulted from anyone being drugged.

Yeah, women need to stop deciding to be raped. Don't they know how uncomfortable it is?

Here's a tip OU Daily: Your next article should be "How not to rape." It's pretty easy. You just don't rape people.

Does anyone else find Mustafa's posts in this thread extremely threatening? Being a liberal will get me killed? My face opened up with a box cutter? Hopefully this will be enough to bam him from this website and campus.

If it has nothing to do with gender, then why are women consistently paid less at OU?

Saying that the 30 day statute of limitations is justified to prevent unlawful pressing of charges is ridiculous and demeaning to rape victims. It rarely happens and does not need to be the exception to prove the rule. This is obviously all a game to reduce the number of police reports per year, thus making the school seem safer than it is.

I would like to add that Mr. Brogdon's article is a fine example of the writing level expected in the tenth grade according to the Gunning Fog Index. Way to go.

I found it hilariously ironic that this column appeared right above an article about anti-intellectualism. I would like to point out the glaring contradictions you have presented to us.
I missed the rule that says a student must either drink heavily or be interested in fine arts. Have you ever met anyone involved in fine arts? We're drunk all the time. I have to drink a box of wine every day so that I can deal with you douchelords.
Are you expecting to be applauded for taking Experiencing Music? The nin-year-old I babysit could pass that, and he's not the brightest bulb in the tanning bed. I really don't care what you think of us performers, but saying that you respect us in a paragraph following one that refers to us as "half-talented" is haphazard.
I think any psychologist would say that your militancy in attacking students of fine arts is related to a sense of inadequacy in your own life. Sure, attending tons of parties is not a waste of time if you like meeting people, consuming alcohol, and winning the privilege of wearing a really ugly t-shirt, but we don't. We like playing really awesome music that was written hundreds of years ago but still has relevance today. It's rewarding to us, just like the reward that you will get this weekend from the hottest girl at the party (read: crabs).
