I do think you need some more research in this article, but I commend you for writing this.
2 years ago, I signed a petition to have a tobacco-free campus, but nothing came of that, so I'm glad you brought this topic up.
I really don't think it's fair to most of non-smokers to have to whiff up smoke. Yes, I've heard that you can avoid it, but the truth is you can't avoid it all of the time. It's easily said and done. I don't know how strong the connection is between second hand smoking and lung cancer, but I don't like it one bit when I have to smell a cigarette on my way to class. It's not fair to us non-smokers to have to be exposed to this. I think it's up to the university to do more to protect our health, as we are their students.

I agree with RazgrizI. Public health trumps individual rights. Simple as that. Yes it's true that whenever I see an individual smoking, I try to avoid him/her. However, there are just times when you CAN'T avoid him/her. You're trying to get to your class on time and it's crowded, so what do you do? You try to run past the smoker as best as you can, but you'll still get a whiff. Frankly I think it's unfair for those who don't smoke to have to be exposed to it.

Hailey, this was a great article! It was very insightful and open-minded and I was very glad to hear you point problems that this state has been having. This is quality stuff here. Keep up the good work!

Amen sister! Often I've heard that feminism is dead. It is not, and we should continue to voice our concerns to fix these problems.

Wait...what??????
Think of the audience you are writing to. We are living in a time where economic prospects are pretty bleak for college graduates, and you tell us what?
We are college students. Not rich people rolling in money. We're here for an education to eventually earn money not spend more money.
Yes it's true that OU needs to up their standards, but is it really the right time to do so? More and more people are going to community college because they can't afford going to college. And guess where I read that article? The OU Daily! I can't believe I'm reading this from your newspaper. I thought the newspaper represented the interests of the students, not the university. If this is propaganda from the university, then count me out!
You need to read the atmosphere here. Maybe this article could appeal to many people, but not during this time. You are just pouring oil into the fire.
