Unfortunately, whoever actually penned this story has no idea what it means to be obese in the US. I would be willing to wager that they have not struggled with weighing over 300 lbs in their life. Changing bad eating habits is a lot more difficult than most people think.

I once weighed over 345 pounds. I now am pushing 260 and working on getting lower. That has been over the course of 3 years. It was not a matter of "making quiet choices every day to eat less, eat healthier and exercise more." It has been a lot of hard work and harder choices, choices such as cutting out sodas, refined sugars, sweets and watching EVERY SINGLE thing that I eat. I will have to eat this way for the rest of my life. Do you know what its like to attend your own birthday party and never have any cake? Do you know what its like to have to argue with a restaurant manager to get a kids meal so you get smaller portions? Ever have to make the choice to eat out with friends or eat at home because there are very few places that have healthy eating options that do not limit themselves to a salad? Secondly, eating healthy is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, my food bill went up by 20% when I started eating healthier. Say nothing about restaurants that serve fatty food and call it healthy. Please get your facts straight before you spew out heavy handed platitudes.

The Editorial staff has not only proved its ignorance with this article. They have also shown that they are bigoted and biased against people who struggle with obesity.

Wow...its amazing how uninformed people on here are. Especially because this is a student paper. Fox News only covered a MAJOR event that CNN, MSNBC, NBC, and CBS chose to either ignore or use to make countless and tasteless sex jokes (Keith Olberman). What really has you folks in an uproar is that GASP! People disagree with your appointed Messiah! What happened to "dissent is the highest form of Patriotism"? Oh, I forgot. Its only applicable if the dissent happens to come from you. The Tea Parties are made up of people from ALL parts of the political spectrum, and have never been funded by Fox News. The person who referenced Soviet newspapers should take note of the CNN/NPR reporter who called the protests "Anti-CNN, Anti-Government". Sounds like CNN has become the mouthpiece (along with MSNBC) for the Obama Administration. Why else would they spend more time focusing on Obama's new dog rather than REPORTING actual news? What about Obama's reversal on the severity of the financial crisis. Prior to the stimulus bill, Obama was pulling a chicken little and saying that the sky is falling! the sky is falling! Then, after the bill passes, he says..well its not that bad. The sky wasn't falling it was just a thunderstorm.

The protest was about not only Obama's spending, but Bush's, and the Congress who voted for it, who wrote it and passed it. Learn some civics sometime. I recommend doing a little research about who writes and passes legislation in this country. Remember, the president can only SUGGEST and CAMPAIGN for pieces of legislation. Presidents do not write legislation. Republicans were named as much as Democrats were at the Oklahoma City Party. There was a list of the Oklahoma delegates (Republicans and Democrats) who voted for the stimulus bill (in spite of the tens of thousands of calls received against it). Fiscal Conservatives have finally had their voices heard for the first time in 9 years and we will be heard again next year in the congressional elections.

I am really surprised at the lack of basic research for this article. The RIAA has announced that they are no longer suing individuals. Probably because they have gotten lots of bad press from suing 5 year old kids and 90 year old Grandmas, or maybe because they have been challenged by Charles Nesson (a Harvard Professor and Lawyer) in open court.

"But we hope disappointment does not turn into unwavering hatred of the president and his government without giving him a chance to lead. Four years is a long time to be angry."

Isn't that what all the democrats were doing for the last 8 years? Being bitter about the 2000 election?

I can almost guarantee that every endorsement will be for a Democrat. After all, the Daily has run almost nothing positive about the McCain campaign.

Oh well, if I turned to the Daily for insightful political reporting I would be pretty dumb. The Daily always endorses those who lean furthest to the left. I expect this election season to be no different.
