"You should know that I do not hate or dislike you as an atheist. I see you as my brother whom I am to love (not shun), regardless of what you personally believe."

Well, Meso, you should know that as an atheist I don't hate or dislike or want to shun you either. Not sure about that brother stuff, though.

Am I correct in inferring from the citations of the founding fathers and your taking their (your interpretation of their) views as guides for today you advocate that we should go back to slavery, disenfranchise women, etc.?

This isn't about your original post, which as you quite properly noted raised questions that can and should be (and at least some of which Have above been) answered independently of your personal views.

Still, I am curious about the claim on your web page: "My faith is based on the historical truth about who Jesus was and what he did, and on the proven accuracy of the Bible. I have come to the conclusion that the facts about the life of Jesus can be historically verified "

I wasn't aware of that. I am not even entirely sure Jesus even existed, and I thought that if he did he was not quite the moral exemplar he's often made out to be (though since the Gospels are far from consistent, it's hard to know just what he did).

But I'm happy to learn that my misgivings were misplaced. Please, though, could you post some references showing the truth of this (evidence being important in science, and all that)? I'd even settle for anything giving it better than even odds.
