A deprivation of rights? If I screwed up like that on my job I would be told I had every right to find another. That buyout could easily bring in a better qualified professor..

Great, and then all graduates can go to states with the better jobs like my son, an elec/comp engineer now in the DFW area.
We also need GOOD PAYING jobs in this state!

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (the correct term)does not replace private insurance companies, it does not have the mythical 'death panels', it does not convert all insurance to a government or single payer plan. It was based on the original health plan submitted by the Republican Bob Dole. The conservative Washington Post published in 2010, a book titled LANDMARK,(amazon carries it) and on page 68 they explain that this law"... bears a clear resemblance to the leading Republican alternative to the Clinton plan, to proposals developed by the Heritage Foundation, and to the 2006 legislation signed by Republican Mitt Romney..."

Oklahoma is competing with Mississippi for the lowest ranking of quality of Health in the nation, We are in the bottom 5 on addressing long term health needs of our elderly and disabled. Basically, our health status and health system is a travesty and we should be disgusted that our so called state leaders see health as a priviledge and not a necessity.

This plan forbids insurance companies from refusing to cover patients due to preexisting conditions - especially children. Insurance companies cannot grossly increase rates (such as they attempted in California). Adult children can remain on their parents plans until age 26 (benefits those who cannot find work or work with benefits after graduation). Medicare beneficiaries who fall into the donut hole will receive a rebate as the law slowly phases in various options to help seniors with this financial black hole.

Granted there are areas needing improvement BUT, people (including my former State Rep., now Att.Gen. Pruitt) should expand their horizons and educate themselves regarding the benefits it does contain.

Fill out forms five days prior? Administration approval to ensure that there is no disruption?--to classes?

Check out "The Strawberry Statement" by James Kunen, and "Rules for Radicals" by Saul Alinsky.

30 years after being transplanted here without a choice Oklahoma still has not changed. It continues to hold the Bible in one hand while shooting itself in the foot with a gun held in the other hand....

?what? We are in debt due to an military conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, an unfunded Medicare prescription plan, and other factors. We are falling behind in the global economy partly because we are not pushing more R&D.

Check out research/studies done by R.E.Dunlap and colleagues.

Thank you 'Anon/localsooner' as you hit the nail on the head. Too many complain but don't vote--or they vote the way their parents do (different generation = different issues) or they vote straight party without looking at how candidates address key issues. Voting is more than marking a ballot or pulling a lever.

(Therefore, I cannot resist a political plug...those of you in Dan Boren's district should check out Rep. Wilson)

okay, here is the old lady: while in undergrad school my family did not have the money for me to even consider entering a sorority. I was existing on loans, grants, and working waiting tables. My friends were in the same situation as occurs in societies and cultures - try as we might we did not have the one thing that joined us together - a commitment to an organization.

Jump 30 years later, my son joined a fraternity. Yes, there was drinking, and partying, but there were also academic requirements, opportunities to learn leadership skills/methods, opportunities to learn about those who were less fortunate. Did he have to work - you bet...but so did many others in his fraternity.

The myth he broke for his mom was that generalizations and sterotypes are wrong. This cartoon was an immature cartoon when on considers the vast number topics

Having studied Middle Politics and Policies in the 1970's -- too many people today read only 'recent' books available at big box book stores.

"The Middle East Today" by Peretz has an updated 6th edition. His first edition was the text in my upper division Middle East/International Relations course many moons ago.

For those who may wish to read a very good book on the conflicts of the entire region try 'Storm from the East' by Milton Viorst.

So pleased to see that in Oklahoma there are people who do not take the Bible as historical fact; and that there are many who may have been silent for far too long. We cannot allow fanatical Christianity to dictate policies either in individual states or at the Federal level.
