I'm going to go out on a limb here and say most of the Americans opposing this mosque are doing it because they are afraid of Muslims. Good effort at making a respectable defense, but the real opposition to this does not deserve respect. It is outrage ginned up by demagogues and fearmongerers, with little basis in the reality of what this project is or who is sponsoring it.

Mistake? It's immature and unprofessional, sure, but I'm pretty sure someone did it on purpose.

I am Jewish and I am pro-Israel, but I do not support AIPAC. They represent a far right-wing, warlike perspective that in the long run harms Israel and keeps it mired in endless conflict. They like to claim that their approach is the only way to be "pro-Israel", but that is far from the truth. For a group of American and Israeli Jews making a genuine effort at peace and stability in the Middle East, check out J-Street (http://www.jstreet.org/).

Fair Trade connects marginalized producers directly with markets, cutting out the middlemen. It empowers them to understand the value of their products, IMPROVE it's quality and sustainability, and put the profits of their labor back into their community. And it provides a way for consumers to ensure that they are not supporting child labor or abuse of workers. For anyone who really knows something about economics, these are all significant and valuable marketing features.

Cap-and-trade and "clean coal" are totally different issues. The biggest win of all for the coal industry would be to not pass any climate change legislation.

OU has been doing some good things for sustainability, but it's not credible that the university has no influence over the OU Foundation. If President Boren made a call for more investment transparency, it would happen. If he doesn't think that is a good idea, he should tell us why, but the administration can't pretend to have no responsibility.

Before this meme takes off, people should know there is significant evidence that the company which did these polls has been faking its results.

The unifying characteristic of Bachmann and Palin is not that they are both women. It's that they are both crazy.
