Junior right handed pitcher Mariah Lopez throws the ball to first base in the second game against Alabama June 2.

Junior RHP Mariah Lopez entered the transfer portal on Monday, and Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso thinks that it looks like she'll leave.

Gasso told James Hale on his show, SportsTalk1400's Total Sports, the whole process is, at the moment, "in limbo."

“I want that kid to be happy at whatever it is, if it’s her being the face of a program," Gasso told Hale on the subject of Lopez transferring. "It’s kind of slow moving, but it looks like it.”

In her three years with the Sooners, Lopez has tallied a 51-2 record and 355 strikeouts. In 2019, Lopez recorded two no-hitters — against Florida Atlantic and North Texas.

Lopez was the expected go-to pitcher for the Sooners before Giselle Juarez transferred to Oklahoma from Arizona State. Juarez pitched the majority of the 2019 WCWS for the Sooners, and presumed the workhorse role for Gasso. Lopez finished 2019 with a 1.25 ERA.
