Although Oklahoma’s up-and-down play down the stretch has it on the outside looking in when it comes to the national top 25 rankings, D1Baseball securely holds the Sooners in its weekly 64-team tournament field projections.

In D1Baseball’s latest field of 64 projections, which came out Wednesday, May 1, the Sooners are listed as a No. 2 seed in the Baton Rouge region and scheduled to play against No. 3 seed Sam Houston State. The field features 16 four-team regions, with the winner of each region advancing to a Super Regional. The final eight teams advance to Omaha, Nebraska, for the College World Series.

The Sooners are seeking their third consecutive tournament appearance after a three year absence from 2014-16, as well as their first Super Regional appearance since 2013 and first College World Series appearance since 2010. In 2018, Oklahoma was one win away from making the Super Regional but were eliminated from the double-elimination bracket with back-to-back losses to Mississippi State in the regional final.
