Former Sooner infielder Jack Mayfield was called up to the Houston Astros.

Mayfield hit .265 for the Sooners from 2010-13 and was an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 member his senior year. The Del Rio, Texas, native signed as an undrafted free agent with the Astros in 2013 and has spent the last six years playing in the minors.
In 2019 with Triple-A Round Rock, Mayfield sports a slash line of .283 AVG/.362 OBP/.572 SLG and has ten homers to couple with 31 RBIs. Mayfield is expected to serve as infield insurance on the Astros until 6x All-Star Jose Altuve returns from injury.
