OU baseball: Cade Cavalli named to All-Big 12 First Team, 9 total Sooners recognized with All-Big 12 honors

Sophomore right-handed pitcher and designated hitter Cade Cavalli was named to the All-Big 12 First Team in a vote by the league’s head coaches, the conference announced Tuesday. Eight other Sooners were recognized as well.

Sophomore starter Levi Prater and junior closer Jason Ruffcorn were named to the All-Big 12 Second Team, and freshmen pitchers Ben Abram and Wyatt Olds were named to the All-Freshman Team.

Sophomore Tyler Hardman and juniors Brady Lindsly, Nathan Wiles and Brandon Zaragoza were Honorable Mentions.

Cavalli was also named a semi-finalist for the 2019 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year award, the College Baseball Hall of Fame announced Wednesday.

The No. 7-seed Sooners will take the field against No. 2 Baylor in the first round of the 2019 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship at 4 p.m. CT on Wednesday, May 22.
