No. 17 Oklahoma (16-7, 6-5 Big 12) lost to No. 19 West Virginia (18-6, 7-4 Big 12) Monday night after coming up short late.
Oklahoma jumped out to a hot start, leading by as many as five in the first seven minutes of the game. West Virginia would follow with a 14-0 run, taking all the momentum into halftime up 50-40.
Both teams would come out of the locker room going a combined 1-of-18 from the field. West Virginia would extend its lead to as many 11, but the Sooners came roaring back behind freshman Trae Young to cut the lead to 11 with just under eight minutes to play. Oklahoma would have one last shot late, trailing by just two with 13 seconds remaining but were unable to get a good look to eventually fall 75-73.
Young would finish with a game-high 32 points but would only record one assist.
Oklahoma will be back in action Saturday at 1 p.m. CT when they travel to Ames, Iowa to face Iowa State.
