The Norman Police Department provided an update via Twitter on an ongoing investigation following the funeral of a former state senator who died last week.
Jonathan Nichols, former Oklahoma senator and former OU vice president of government relations, was found dead in his Norman home on June 5. Nichols had suffered an apparent gunshot wound, according to NPD.
NPD’s tweet was in response to a June 11 question and gave an update on the investigation into the exact manner of Nichols’ death.
The investigation is ongoing. At this time it remains a death investigation, further details will be released as they become available.— Norman Police (@normanokpd) June 11, 2019
The police department said the investigation is still being treated as a “death investigation,” and further details would be released as they become available.
Nichols’ funeral was held June 10 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, according to The Oklahoman.
