OU soccer: Sooners stunned by SMU in Dallas

Ross Stracke , The Oklahoma Daily 10:07 p.m. September 16, 2012

The Sooners return to Norman with their tails between their legs as the SMU Mustangs put an offensive beating on them, scoring three goals and holding OU scoreless.

How the Sooners lost: Oklahoma gave up more goals than it has all season, failing to create any offensive momentum, getting outshot 16-10 by SMU.

Key stat: SMU goalkeeper Lauryn Bodden shut out the Sooners, recording six saves.

Key opponent: SMU forward Shelby Redman scored a goal and recorded an assist, leading the Mustangs on their offensive surge.

Key performer: Once again senior forward Renae Cuellar provided the only real offensive threat, taking five shots times, four on goal.

What it means: The Sooners head into Big 12 play with a bad taste in their mouths after this game and will need immediate improvement to get a different result against a tough Baylor team.
