OU baseball: Sooners draw a No. 2 seed in Charlottesville Regional

OU will head to Virginia to kick off the 2012 NCAA baseball tournament. The Sooners were selected as a No. 2 seed in the Charlottesville Regional, the NCAA announced today.
Oklahoma (38-22) joins No. 1 seed Virginia (38-17-1), Appalachian State (39-16) and Army (41-13) in the regional matchup from June 1-4 at Davenport Field in Charlottesville, Va.
Double-elimination pool play begins Friday when the Sooners face Appalachian State, the Southern Conference champions, and continues through the weekend.
The winner of the Charlottesville Regional advances to a best-of-three Super Regional series against the Columbia Regional, which includes two-time defending NCAA champion South Carolina.
OU entered the month on the bubble, but the Sooners picked up five wins against No. 4 Baylor and made a run to the Big 12 tournament finals, cementing themselves in the field of 64.
The time for Friday's game against Appalachian State hasn't been announced yet.
