OU women's golf: Sophomore Jao-Javanil wins NCAA championship
The NCAA women's golf tournament came to an end Friday with OU sophomore Chirapat "Ja" Jao-Javanil winning the Sooners' first women's individual title in golf.
Ja finished the tournament with a score of 282, six under par. That was four strokes better than Alabama's Brooke Pancake, who finished in second.
Ja was ranked No. 58 entering the tournament, but finished eight strokes ahead of top-ranked Lindy Duncan of Duke. The next highest scoring Sooners were junior Taylor Schmidt and sophomore Anne Tanguay who finished tied for 21st at six over par.
As a team, the Sooners finished the day tied for sixth, eight strokes behind national champion Alabama.
