Regents approve pay raises, contract extensions for OU coaches

The OU Board of Regents approved contract changes to about 30 coaches' contracts before the end of the fiscal year in a meeting Tuesday.

Co-offensive coordinators of the OU football team Josh Heupel and Jay Norvell each will receive $20,000 pay raises next season. The raises bring both coaches' salaries to $350,000.

Other football coaches to receive pay raises were defensive ends coach Bobby Jack Wright, defensive line coach Jackie Shipp, centers and guards coach James Patton, tight ends and offensive tackles coach Bruce Kittle and running backs and fullbacks coach Cale Gundy.

Gundy received the largest raise of those coaches with a $15,000 increase that will put his salary for next season at $270,000.

Softball coach Patty Gasso who received a contract extension through June 2017 and a $10,000 raise.

Women's basketball coach Sherri Coale got the same $10,000 raise with a contract extension through June 2018.

The biggest raises were given to the gymnastics coaches. Women's gymnastics coach K.J. Kindler got a $60,000 raise, and men's coach Mark Williams received a $56,000 raise.
