OU men's golf: Will Kropp earns All-America honorable mention
OU men's golf junior Will Kropp was named as an honorable-mention selection to the 2012 All-America team, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Wednesday.
Kropp averaged a 74.43 round score in the seven team events last season.
He finished a season-high ninth place at the NCAA Championships on June 1-3 in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Coach Ryan Hybl attributes the accolade to that strong performance in the championship tournament.
"I preach all the time about getting All-American plaques up on our wall," Hybl said in a release. "Will was able to do that by playing great at the right time at the NCAA Championships."
Kropp finished the 2011-12 season with one top-10 and three-top 20 finishes.
The association honored a total of 31 collegiate golfers on the honorable-mention list.
Hybl said he was proud of what Kropp accomplished but has even greater expectations for next year.
"Will did a great job for us at the national championship," Hybl said, "and I am excited for him to continue his momentum this summer and for him to help lead us to even better things next year."
