Local authors will offer three writing workshops for aspiring writers of all ages on Saturday, sponsored by the Norman Arts Council and the Pioneer Library System, a library representative said.

Two of the workshops are will be lead by William Bernhardt and will focus on how to write at a publishable level.

The first workshop is from 9 a.m. to noon and the second is from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at MAINSITE Contemporary Art, said Anne Harris, a Pioneer Library System employee and co-sponsor of the event.

The third workshop is with Nathan Brown and will focus on how to write a memorable song. This workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Performing Arts Studio.

“Both have really good reputations for doing really good workshops,” Harris said.

The Writing Workshop is able to reach a wide audience and help people advance in their writing endeavors, Harris said.

Though the workshops are free, registration is required because space is limited. Each of the workshops has 100 spaces total and is filling up fast, Harris said.

For example, one of the workshops with Bernhardt already has 69 spaces reserved, Harris said.
