NMF4 headliner The Walkmen announce free concert this fall at OU
The Walkmen, an American indie rock band that headlined Norman Music Festival 4, just announced a new fall tour that includes a show Sept. 18 at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art. It will be free for OU students.
The show's time has not been announced.
Every fall, the art museum holds a welcoming party for new students, encouraging them to come and enjoy the art museum. This fall, the museum is working in conjunction with the Campus Activities Council Concert Series to have The Walkmen perform at the opening party.
The Walkmen are touring to promote their new album, “Heaven.” After spending the summer touring with Florence + the Machine, The Walkmen will begin their headlining tour Sept. 12 in Los Angeles and will end Oct. 19 in Boston.
Their show on campus will be the only one they perform in Oklahoma during this tour.
The band has been together for a decade, and over that time, its music has matured tremendously. All five members of the band have children now, and that certainly has affected the sound of their music, creating a more open and emotional feel.
“It is exciting to have a band this great playing on campus,” said Leesa Allmond, CAC Concert Series chair. She said she hopes the CAC Concert Series will be able to continue having big band names come to perform on campus.
