When: 7 p.m. Wednesday

Place: Murray Case Sells Swim Complex

Cost: $5

The OU Fitness & Recreation Center will host an Independence Day pool party, which will include food and fireworks, Wednesday at the Murray Case Sells Swim Complex.

The big attraction is the fireworks, Fitness & Recreation Director Amy Davenport said. The July Fourth Splash Bash will allow families and students to celebrate while staying cool, she said.

The complex will have games for children and hot dogs for the first 250 people, Davenport said. The event will begin at 7 p.m., and a disc jockey will provide music, including classical limbo for the kids, she said.

The complex can accommodate more than 400 people, Davenport said. The event targets members of the OU community, but everyone is welcome.

Attendees can enjoy the firework show at Reeves Park from the complex, Davenport said.

“Just before the fireworks begin, we will get everyone out of the pool and turn off the lights,” she said.

The event is $5, but children ages 3 and under can attend for free, Davenport said.

More information about the event can be found at ou.edu/far or by calling 405-325-4837.
