Congratulations! You’ve now officially survived the second week of school...and to think, it feels like the ninth. So with another glorious weekend upon us, the Life & Arts staff has compiled a list of some must-do activities for your next few days of freedom. Enjoy!
UPB Bingo
Bingo can actually be pretty fun if you’re willing to drop the ‘I’m too cool for this’ façade. We suggest students give the game a chance this tonight at 8 p.m. in the food court of the Union. It’s free, snacks will be available and you can win free class and dorm supplies...because let’s face it, has anyone really bought their school supplies yet?
Cuppies and Joe
Whether you already have a reason to be downtown this weekend, or are just looking for an excuse, Cuppies and Joe is one of our favorite places to catch up with a friend or sip on a homemade latte and study (it’s the second week, time to bit that bullet). The cupcakes are homemade to perfection and some on our staff would venture to say Cuppies and Joe is home of the BEST cupcakes in Oklahoma, it’s definitely worth the 20 min drive.
Anthropologie
It may sound lame for the boys, but ladies the grand opening of a new Anthropologie store is today in Oklahoma City and we just want to go and check it out! This is a great store and its new location in OKC makes it so much more accessible to students here in Norman.
The Big Tuna Fish Joint
If you like fresh seafood you should definitely go check out this new restaurant and fun bar. It opened on Monday at 3720 W Robinson where Cha Cha’s use to be. They have everything from dinner plates and po’ boys to oysters on the half shell and shots with jalepeno garnish. Norman finally has a great and unique seafood restaurant!
A Dangerous Method
We’ve been waiting impatiently for this limited release film to make its way to Oklahoma. Keira Knightly’s new indie drama has received great reviews and it’s finally at AMC in the city this weekend!
Ice skating at the Myriad Gardens
Well it’s not Christmas time anymore but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy some winter fun. The Devon Ice Rink is still open at the Myriad Gardens downtown. With the newly renovated gardens as a beautiful setting, this makes for a great outing with friends or a sweet and simple date. See the hours and costs below:
Friday: 4pm - midnight
Saturday: noon - midnight
Sunday: noon - 10pm
$10 per person - includes skate rental
$7 per person if you bring your own skates
Well we know what we’ll be up to this weekend! If you like our recommendations or have and suggestions for us tweet us at @OUDailyArts.
