RANKINGS BY AVERAGES

  1. Florida — 196.929
  2. Oklahoma — 196.784
  3. Georgia — 196.725
  4. Alabama — 196.725
  5. Utah — 196.721

RANKINGS BY SCORES

  1. Oklahoma — 196.995
  2. Florida — 196.925
  3. UCLA — 196.725
  4. Georgia — 196.660
  5. Utah — 196.555

When the rankings for women’s gymnastics switch over to the regional qualifying score (RQS) system, the Sooners are expected to be No. 1.

RQS averages teams’ six best scores, three of which must be on the road. OU has posted four team scores above 197, all on the road, and leads Florida’s average by .07 going into tonight’s meet.

But coach K.J. Kindler and her team aren’t worried about rankings or numbers.

“We’re focused on the performance,” Kindler said. “I think they’ve earned the score several times this season, but what I’m interested in is seeing them elevate their performances.”

The Sooners host No. 21 Michigan and TWU at 7 p.m. Friday at Lloyd Noble Center.

Michigan was in the Super Six with OU last year, so Kindler said the Wolverines are no stranger to tough competition.

“We expect it to be a very competitive meet,” she said.

Kindler said Michigan’s strongest event is vault, so the Sooners have been focusing on that apparatus because they know they will need to match the Wolverines.

Kindler said OU hasn’t had the best week of practice leading up to Friday’s meet, but she expects the team to be ready.

“I’m looking at them to rise a little bit from the week of practice,” she said.
