Students receive recognition from National Residence Hall Honorary
The OU chapter of National Residence Hall Honorary was named chapter of the year at a regional conference of residence halls two weeks ago.
The conference, hosted by the Southwest Association of College and University Residence Halls, joined housing leaders from universities in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas and Mexico to share ideas on topics such as gender neutral housing or residence hall programming, said Sarah Weiler, OU Housing Center Student Association president.
Members of the OU chapter and OU Housing Center Student Association accepted the award at the conference.
“It means we have done the best in the entire region,” Weiler said.
The OU chapter was chosen for this award based on a bid the chapter submitted outlining its purpose and how it met its goals, Weiler said.
Three individual OU students also were recognized at the conference. Lydia Sexton, Lena Tenney and Wade Hensley were elected to be the association’s regional director, associate director of National Residence Hall Honorary and associate director of administration and finance, respectively, according to a press release.
“OU having this many in positions in general shows that OU has done an outstanding job in the last few years,” Weiler said.
