Three bands will perform tonight at a benefit concert raising funds to support hospital treatment for children diagnosed with cancer and other dangerous diseases.

The concert will feature the Pretty Black Chains, Crown Imperial and Burning Hotels, said Joshua Boydston, CAC Concert Series chairman.

The event will be hosted by stand-up comedian, BradChad Porter, he said.

The show is free to the Norman community, Boydston said. A suggested donation of $8 will be taken at the door, but attendees can donate any amount they are able to, he said. All proceeds from the concert will go directly to Dance Marathon and Children’s Miracle Network.

Boydston expects the show to sell out, be a great success and serve as the first of many Dance Marathon benefit concerts to come, he said.

“It is pretty cheap entertainment, and you are supporting a good cause while you’re at it,” Boydston said. “I think that is as good as you can go for a Friday night.”

Opolis owner Andy Nunez has provided his venue for several CAC benefit events in the past, he said.

“It’s a great cause, and I am super happy to help with that,” Nunez said. “I am always open to a benefit.”

Members of Crown Imperial are eager to play at the show, guitarist and vocalist Cali Tonnu said.

“We like to do charity, and we like to do it as a band, so we are really excited,” Tonnu said.

This will be the bands first time to play at an event affiliated with OU, she said.

Derek Knowlton, guitarist and vocalist for Pretty Black Chains, said his band rarely does benefit shows, which makes tonight’s event special.

“I’m glad that us playing some music can do some good for someone, besides give them a headache,” Knowlton said.

The show will begin at the Opolis, 113 N. Crawford Ave. at 10 p.m. Doors will open at 9 p.m.
