Norman will get a dose of psychedelic-rock and alternative-country music at the end of a three-day music festival in April, event organizers announced Friday afternoon.

Portland-based band Portugal The Man will be the main act for Norman Music Festival 5, which is scheduled for April 26-28 in downtown Norman. Hayes Carll, from Austin, Texas, will headline the festival's secondary stage, the Jack Daniels Stage.

Norman Music Festival organizers posted a Facebook status early Friday afternoon to make the announcement to the 18,000-plus people who have liked the organization's page.

The status read: "Dear NMF friends and family. News is creeping out, so let's just confirm! The 2012 NMF main stage headliner will be Portugal, The Man. Over on the Jack Daniels Stage we'll have Hayes Carll. Share this post and tell a friend!"

Organizers posted Friday afternoon on the festival's Twitter account that additional bands in the event lineup will be released in the coming weeks.

Norman Music Festival is a free event in its fifth year of existence. The festival brings national, regional and local musicians together for what is now three days of live music. The first Norman Music Festival was a one-day event, the second and third festivals were two days, and last year's festival was expanded to three days.
